The Board of Control for Cricket in India or the BCCI had to pick a new title sponsor for the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League after the Chinese smartphone manufacturer Vivo backed out from the title sponsorship for IPL 2020 owing to the growing anti-China sentiment in the country after the violence between Indian and Chinese soldiers in Ladakh.
After some deliberation, the sponsorship rights were awarded to Dream XI, which is a leader in the fantasy gaming space. Dream XI agreed to pay BCCI a sum of Rs 222 crore for the rights, which is nearly half the amount (440 crore) that Vivo was paying in its contract per year.
The 13th edition of IPL will begin from the 19th of September and the new logo for the IPL was revealed. This year’s IPL will take place in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the new logo featuring the new title sponsor Dream XI.
On its official Instagram handle, IPL shared the picture of its new logo with hashtag #Dream11IPL and asked the fans for their opinions.
