However, there are many more clear reasons why Salah feels unsettled at Anfield.
The 42 year old former Egyptian footballer, Mohamed Aboutrika, said, “I called Salah about his situation at Liverpool and he is upset, but that would never affect his performance on the field”.
Aboutrika added, “I know that Salah is not happy in Liverpool, he told me the reasons why he is not happy but they are secrets and I cannot talk about it in public,” he also said, “One of the reasons that made Salah angry was that he was not the captain against Midtjylland.”
Salah, who is generally very calm and composed, expressed hi frustration publicly when he was not given the armband (captainship) against Midtjylland, telling AS he was “very disappointed” with this decision.
Salah, who has also played for Roma and Chelsea, was expecting to wear the armband and named the captain of the team given he had the most experience in the entire lineup, however, the 22 year old Trent Alexander-Arnold was given the captainship, instead.
Salah was dropped from the playing X in the match against Crystal Palace which was played of 19th December 2020, however, in the 57th minute of the game, Jurgen Klopp, coach at Liverpool, decided to send him in.
Klopp said he was only giving the striker rest after a hectic period of this season.
Salah scored two goals at the end of the final whistle with game ending 7-0 for the win of Liperpool.
In the same interview, Salah also reiterated his admiration for the two Spanish clubs – Real Madrid and Barcelona – which are also linked with a move for the former Basel player on a regular basis.
Aboutrika says his friend and the former Egyptian international football teammate should make a move to either one of the Spanish giants saying Liverpool will find huge money if they get transfer request from any of the two clubs.
Aboutrika said, “f Salah was a player at Real Madrid or Barcelona, and playing at the same level as Liverpool, he would’ve won the Ballon d’Or, and it is normal for a Spanish newspaper to ask Salah about Real Madrid and Barcelona.
“In my opinion, Liverpool are considering selling Salah for economic purposes.
“I do not have any influence over Salah’s decisions, he is my friend and brother, and he is smart enough to know what is best for him.”
