IPL 2022 Match 66: KKR Vs LSG , Head-To-Head Stats, Top Performing Players And Match Prediction

Highlights:

  • Lucknow Super Giants sits at 3rd position on the points table with16 points and are almost through to the finals given they have a healthy NRR
  • KKR would need a win against LSG today with a commanding margin if they wish to make it to the quarterfinals of IPL 2022
  • LSG and KKR have faced each other once before where LSG went home winners by 75 runs

The end of the League Matches of IPL 2022 is almost upon us as Kolkata Nights Riders will be facing Lucknow Super Giants in the 66th match of this campaign. Though for LSG, their place in the quarter-finals is almost saved, KKR have to make sure they win the match today with a demanding lead, even then they might not be able to reserve a spot for themselves. Both LSG and KKR enjoy a positive NRR of 0.262 and 0.160 respectively, however, LSG has 16 points while KKR sits 6th on the points table with 12 points.

KKR and LSG’s match today will be played at Dr. DY Patil Cricket Stadium at 7:30 PM (IST).

LSG will come into the match winning 3 of their last 5 matches, however, the last 2 matches they played resulted in a loss for them.

KKR, on the other hand, too, have won 3 of their last 5 matches but have 2 wins in their last 2 matches and would like to retain the momentum by winning today’s match.

Given it is the maiden season for Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League, there is just 1 match these teams have played against each other.

KKR and LSG met each other in the 53rd match of IPL 2022 where Lucknow scored 176 runs and sent back the entire batting line-up of Kolkata Knight Riders to the dugout after 14.3 overs at just 101 runs, winning the match by 75 runs.

KKR Vs LSG Head To Head Stats

LSG could not have asked for a better first season of the Indian Premier League, the team won 3 of their 4 matches at the start of the campaign and even defeated CSK, one of the most successful teams of IPL. LSG has won 8 out of 13 matches played in IPL 2022.

KKR have not had their best of IPL seasons, having won just 6 out of 13 matches in this season of IPL, the team failed to pick up the momentum at the start of this campaign having picked 3 successive losses in their first 3 games.

IPL 2022 has been one of the best seasons of IPL ever for the fans, even until now we only have 1 team (Gujarat Titans) who has made it to the Quarter Finals and still have 8 teams who can make it, at least on papers.

LSG does not have to ensure a win, however, needs to ensure the margin of their loss is at bare minimum to retain healthy NRR.

KKR on the other hand not only have to ensure a win today with a bizarre margin but even then walk on thin ice given they will be dependent on the outcome of the matches of RCB vs GT and DC Vs MI, both DC and RCB will have to lose their matches for KKR to qualify to the Quarter Finals.

In the last match KKR faced LSG, KKR lost by 75 runs. Here are the key highlights:

In the 53rd match of IPL 22, KKR faced LSG at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium on 7th May.

Lucknow batted first and 4 of its batsmen stood out:

  1. Quinton de Kock scored a half sanctuary from 29 deliveries hitting 3 maximums and 4 boundaries
  2. Deepak Hooda, who came out 1-down, scored 41 from 27 deliveries, hitting 2 maximums and 4 boundaries
  3. Marcus Stoinis, in the death overs, took command hitting 28 runs from just 14 deliveries with 1 boundary and 3 maximums.

LSG put up a score of 176 after losing 7 wickets.

For KKR, 4 bowlers were successful in taking wickets, Andre Russell who took 2 wickets and Sunil Narine, Shivam Mavi and Tim Southee who all took 1 wicket each.

For KKR, it never look good, they kept losing wickets at quick successions with Baba Indrajith getting out in the last ball of the 1st over scoring 0 runs, captain Shreyas Iyer, too, was quick to depart in the 4th over with 11 runs on the scoreboard for KKR after scoring just 6 runs.

Only 2 batsmen gave KKR hopes of winning the match but could not complete the task at hand:

  1. Andre Russell, who was successful with the ball, scored 45 from 19 deliveries smashing 5 maximums and 3 boundaries.
  2. Sunil Narine scored 22 off of 12 deliveries with 1 maximum and 3 boundaries.

All 5 bowlers used by LSG were successful at picking up wickets and only 2 of them have an economy in double digits.

Avesh Khan and Jason Holder picked 3 wickets each while Ravi Bishnoi, Mohsin Khan and Dishmantha Chameera picking 1 wicket each.

LSG handed a humiliating loss to KKR of 75 runs, sending the entire batting line-up back to their dugout with just 101 runs on the scoreboard after 14.3 overs.

Match Prediction:

Lucknow Super Giants entered the IPL with a bang, given it was their maiden season of the cash-rich tournament, what they have achieved is nothing less than a dream come true, having defeated CSK and MI, two of the most successful team in the history of IPL, every time they have met in IPL 2022.

As for KKR, they have not been in the best of form and with the skipper unfolding some shocking news of not having the authority to pick the team himself and the owners and upper management sitting while picking the team for matches, it does not look good for them.

We believe that Lucknow Super Giants will win today’s match and cement their position as the 2nd team reaching the Quarter Finals of IPL 2022.
