As the match resumed on the final day at 4 for none, India overhauled the target with 18 balls to spare in a match which went down to the wire.

The young gun Rishabh Pant led the chase for team India and with his aggressive inning, he scored unbeaten 89 runs while Shubman Gill scored an impressive 91. Cheteshwar Pujara who endured many a painful blow on his body in his dogged 56-run knock which he managed to raise with a 211-ball inning.

Australia had already won the pink-ball Adelaide Test while India only struck back with a victory in the test match played in Melbourne.

The third Test of the 4 test match series which was played in Sydney had ended in a draw.

India has earlier won a historic Test series Down Under two years back and now the team is cherishing back-to-back series wins.

India, who had lost the One Day International (ODI) series later won the T20I Series which then was succeeded by the Test rubber.

At the beginning, India lost its experienced vice-captain Rohit Sharma (7) early =, however, the young Gill rose to the occasion and played some impressive knocks which kept India in the hunt as Pujara dug heels from the other end.

Rahane try to build on a good start with his short but attacking 24-run knock but was soon dismissed by Pat Cummins.

With Pant’s ability to strike the ball at a brisk pace, India had a chance to go for the win.

Rishabh Pant pulled some breathtaking cover drives off of Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood in the final session of the match, however, he was also lucky as he benefitted from the missed stumping chance.
