French Open: Djokovic And Alcaraz To Face Off In French Open 2023 Order Of Play

Highlights:

  • The opening match of the day will witness a fierce battle as Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic go head-to-head.
  • Alcaraz emerged victorious in their previous encounter last year, adding extra anticipation to their clash.
  • Following that, Casper Ruud and Alexander Zverev will take the stage for their much-anticipated showdown later in the day.

French Open 2023 is set for two exciting semifinal matches in the men’s draw on Friday, June 9, following the women’s singles semifinals on Thursday.

The first match of the day will take place at Court Philippe Chatrier and pit world No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz against 22-time Grand Slam singles winner Novak Djokovic.

While Alcaraz was cruising through Stefanos Tsitsipas of Greece, Djokovic survived a minor scare against Russia’s Karen Khachanov, where he lost the first set.

Djokovic, who currently ranks No. 3 on the ATP circuit, is also aiming to take down Alcaraz. The Madrid Open in 2022 marked the only time the two have ever met.

In that tournament’s clay-court semifinal, Alcaraz defeated Djokovic 6-7 (5), 7-5, 7-6 (5). Can Djokovic make it through to yet another Grand Slam final despite Alcaraz’s incredible form? The upcoming game is anticipated to be a complete blast.

Following the game, Germany’s Alexander Zverev and the 2022 runner-up Casper Ruud will square off. Zverev has been in incredible form he just reached his third consecutive Roland Garros semifinal. In the semifinals, he defeated Tomas Martin Etcheverry of Argentina.

On the other side, Ruud will be attempting to reach consecutive French Open finals. On Wednesday at Philippe Chatrier, he won a four-set match against the rising star Holger Rune.
