French Giants Confident They Can Keep Mbappe After Messi Signing Is Confirmed

Highlights:

  • PSG has offered a formal 2 year contract to Lionel Messi
  • Ligue 1 winners confident they can retain Mbappe after Messi signing is confirmed
  • Real Madrid are eyeing for the 22 year old French International

Paris Saint-Germain, the Ligue 1 champions, want the 2 men to complete their all-star attacking triumvirate alongside Neymar this season. Goal has confirmed that PSG is confident of retaining Kylian Mbappe once the signing of Lionel Messi has been finalised, as Real Madrid continue to wait in the wings for the France international.

Mbappe’s future at PSG has been the talk of the footballing world in recent months, with the World Cup winner yet to reach an agreement over a contract extension with PSG.

The 22 year olf FIFA World Cup winner is being heavily linked with Los Blancos after entering the final 12 months of his current deal with Ligue 1 champions, however, Messi’s impending arrival at Parc des Princes could lead to a swift resolution that sees him remain in Paris for the long term.

In his emotional final press conference at Camp Nou, Messi admitted that joining PSG is “a possibility”. Barca were unable to re-sign the six-time Ballon d’Or winner for the 2021-22 campaign due to “financial and structural obstacles”.

According to Goal.com, the French giants are convinced that they will be able to finalise a deal for Messi in the day to come and want him to form part of an all-star attacking trio alongside Mbappe and Neymar.

It has been suggested that the Financial Fair Play rules will not allow PSG to register three global stars, but they are expecting UEFA to be more flexible due to the financial constraints caused by the coronavirus crisis.

They have also received backing from the government with the impending acquisition of Messi and renewal of Mbappe’s contract both seen as beneficial moves for French football and France as a whole.

PSG are planning to sit down with Mbappe’s representatives to finalise the agreement after Messi is unveiled, but the Spanish Giants, Los Blancos, are keeping a close eye on the situation.

It is being said that Los Blancos are waiting to hear the result of PSG’s negotiations with the 22 year old French footballer before deciding how best to continue their pursuit of the forward.

Real Madrid have set their eye on Mbappe for this summer, but are prepared to hold off until next year before launching a formal bid.

Mbappe has featured in 172 games for PSG since he joined the Football Club from Monaco in the summer of 2017 and scored goals.

The 22 year old superstar footballer has also recorded 62 assists while helping PSG win three Ligue 1 titles and reach their first-ever Champions League final.
