In 2017, Nadal was briefly stopped by a security officer at the Paris Masters and asked if he had a pass. When asked if he was carrying the same thing, Nadal said no.

The security asked the former World No. 1 innocently who he was, to which the Spaniard courteously responded, "Rafael Nadal," and then went inside.

The fact that the incident took place in Paris, where Nadal has won a record-tying 14 Roland Garros titles, makes the incident even more unexpected.

Nadal's year got off to a great start with two Grand Slam wins. He has yet to regain his form, following an abdominal tear at Wimbledon that caused him to withdraw in the semifinals.

He lost against Borna Coric and was eliminated early from the Cincinnati Open. He also did not progress very far at the US Open, losing to Frances Tiafoe in the fourth round.

But the current French Open champion is a known fighter and would undoubtedly work very hard to prepare for another potential victory that might restore him to the top spot in the world rankings.
